Challenge

As part of modernizing internal systems, the organization introduced the Deltek timekeeping platform. Employees needed clear, simple guidance on how to complete and submit their timesheets accurately.

Traditional written guides were being ignored, leading to errors and late submissions. The goal was to create a hands-on, guided simulation that teaches the process through practice, not just explanation.

Solution

I developed an interactive Storyline module that walks users through the end-to-end timesheet submission process in Deltek.
Learners watch, try, and test each step — mimicking the real software experience.

Key features include:

• Watch–Try–Test format for active learning

• Contextual tips and error prompts to reinforce correct actions

• Simple narration and visual callouts for accessibility

• Mobile-responsive HTML5 output, embedded directly into the company’s learning portal

Process

• Analysis: Collected screenshots, workflows, and FAQs from HR and payroll to identify common user pain points.

• Design: Storyboarded a 3-part simulation — Log In → Enter Time → Submit Approval — using a clean, branded interface.

• Development: Built in Articulate Storyline, layering triggers, hotspots, and feedback text; created supporting visuals in Canva.

• Review & QA: Tested with pilot users, refined wording, added audio pacing, and verified accessibility compliance.

Results

The simulation provided a consistent, error-free way for employees to learn a critical administrative task.
It improved learner confidence, reduced repetitive support requests, and standardized how timesheets were completed across teams.
The interactive format made the training more engaging and easier to retain compared to static guides.
